Koralai is about 120 kms from Mumbai by road, via Pen and Alibaug. Koralai fort is on top of a hill sorrounded by water on all three sides.

There is a light house at the base. Koralai fort was under Portuguese till they left the region on 1740. There is a small community of people, perhaps less than a thousand, speaking a language 'Creole', which is unique.
